# We Switched On WebMCP

By [Colin Rooney](https://wonderworksdesign.net/authors/colin-rooney) · Published 29 October 2026 · Updated 29 October 2026 · 2 min read

**On 29 October 2026 we switched on WebMCP on wonderworksdesign.net, so AI assistants in Chrome can now ask our website directly for our prices, services, case studies and contact details instead of guessing from the page.**

In this piece

1. What did we switch on?
2. What can our website now do for an AI assistant?
3. Day one
4. Did it work?

## What did we switch on?

WebMCP is a new web standard being developed by Google and Microsoft, and it lets a website tell AI assistants in the browser exactly what it can do for them, so instead of reading the page and working out what is there, an assistant can simply ask. Chrome is testing it with a small number of websites before it becomes standard, and we signed up the same week we decided to do it, because the best time to learn something new is before your clients ask you about it.

## What can our website now do for an AI assistant?

Seven things, all of them read only, which means an assistant can look things up but can never change, send or book anything.

- **Get our prices**, each with a link to what is included.
- **List our services**, with a one line summary of each.
- **Show our case studies** with their results.
- **List our Lab experiments**, like this one, with what we have learned so far (added on 29 October 2026, the same day).
- **Search our articles** for the one that answers the question.
- **Give our business details**: who we are, where we are and when we work.
- **Hand over our WhatsApp, Viber, email and phone**, so the person can get in touch themselves. Nothing is ever sent on anyone's behalf.

## Day one

- **6**

- **6 of 6**

- **0**

## Did it work?

On day one we tested all six in Chrome the way an assistant would use them, and asked for our prices, our case studies and how to contact us. Each answer came back from the same facts our pages are built from, so what an assistant tells someone matches what a person reads on our website.

## What happens next?

We count every time an assistant uses one of the tools, the same way we count taps on our WhatsApp and Viber buttons, with nothing personal kept. Every month we will add what we learn here: which tools get used, what changes in Chrome, and whether the big AI assistants start using them.

If you want the same on your website, here is [exactly how we did it, step by step](https://wonderworksdesign.net/worth-knowing/how-to-add-webmcp-to-your-website), or we can do it for you as part of [a website](https://wonderworksdesign.net/services/web-design).
