# Is Meta Verified Worth It for a Business?

By [Colin Rooney](https://wonderworksdesign.net/authors/colin-rooney) · Published 9 October 2026 · 6 min read

**Meta Verified is Meta's paid subscription for the blue badge and protection from accounts pretending to be you, from $14.99 a month. Since 15 September 2026 the badge is also in Meta One's cheapest business plan, while Facebook link posts beyond the limit only come with the plans from $49.99 up.**

If a message on your Facebook Page has recently told you it can only post two links a month, you've already met the reason this question matters. Here's what the subscription buys, what it doesn't, and when it's worth paying.

## What Is Meta Verified?

Meta Verified is a monthly subscription in which Meta confirms that a real person or a real business is behind a profile or Page. In return you get the blue badge next to your name and monitoring for accounts pretending to be you.

The badge isn't a mark of quality. It's a paid service any business that meets Meta's conditions can buy, and it tells a customer one thing: this really is you.

On 15 September 2026 Meta added plans for businesses and creators to its Meta One subscriptions. The badge and impersonation protection are also in the cheapest of them, Essential, together with wider access to Meta Business Agent, which answers your customers on WhatsApp ([Meta's announcement](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/09/introducing-meta-one-subscription-service-more-features-ai/)). Meta hasn't said whether Meta One will replace Meta Verified, so for now the two sit side by side.

## How Much Does Meta Verified Cost?

Meta Verified starts from $14.99 a month ([TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2025/12/17/facebook-is-testing-a-link-posting-limit-for-professional-accounts-and-pages)). The Meta One business plans, which also include the blue badge, come in four tiers:

-   Essential: from $14.99 a month, with the badge, impersonation protection and tools to manage your profiles;
-   Advanced: from $49.99 a month, with stories scheduled up to 30 days ahead, 8 link posts on Facebook and 4 on Instagram a month, and one support case with Meta a month;
-   Expert: from $149 a month, with 20 link posts on Facebook and 5 support cases a month;
- Max: from $499 a month, with unlimited link posts on Facebook.

The link and support numbers come from Meta's comparison table as published by Jon Loomer on 22 September 2026 ([Jon Loomer](https://www.jonloomer.com/meta-one-business-plans/)). Meta says plans, benefits, pricing and availability may vary by region, by app and by account. If Meta One is offered for your account, the price shows in the app before you pay.

## Is There a Free Badge on Facebook?

Yes, for personal profiles only. On 24 July 2026 Meta launched Facebook Verified, a free badge confirming there's a real person behind a profile: you record a short video selfie and Meta checks it against the photos on your profile ([Meta's announcement](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/07/introducing-facebook-verified/)).

For a business that door is closed. Meta says plainly that Facebook Verified isn't available for Pages or professional mode accounts, and it's rolling out in phases, starting with selected markets. For a business Page, the paid subscription is the only route to the badge.

## How Many Links Can a Facebook Page Post?

If your Page is in Meta's test, two link posts a month. In December 2025 Meta confirmed it was testing a limit for Pages and professional mode accounts without a subscription ([TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2025/12/17/facebook-is-testing-a-link-posting-limit-for-professional-accounts-and-pages)), set at two links a month ([MediaPost](https://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/411459/paid-vs-organic-link-shares-facebook-limits-unve.html)). Links in comments, affiliate links and links to Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp don't count, and publishers aren't in the test.

Meta called it "a limited test to understand whether the ability to publish an increased volume of posts with links adds additional value for Meta Verified subscribers."

In September 2026, after Meta One gained its business plans, more Page managers reported a pop-up about a two-links-a-month limit ([Social Media Today](https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/facebook-pages-get-charged-for-link-posts/830743/)). Meta hasn't said which countries it covers. If you post a link and see that message, your Page is in the test.

## Why Does Facebook Limit Links?

Meta's stated reason is to test the value for paying subscribers. The numbers point to something bigger: a link sends people away from Facebook, and Facebook earns while people stay.

Socialinsider studied 872,075 posts from brand pages and published the results on 3 September 2026: a Facebook post with a link reached an average equal to 0.20% of a page's followers, while a photo reached 1.20% ([Socialinsider](https://www.socialinsider.io/blog/social-media-reach/)). Meta's own Widely Viewed Content report for the first quarter of 2026 found that only 1.3% of post views on Facebook in the US were of posts linking to another site, down from 9.8% in 2022 ([Social Media Today](https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/facebook-pages-get-charged-for-link-posts/830743/)).

The free road from Facebook to your website is narrowing and the paid one is getting dearer. Meta reported that its average price per ad was 12% higher in the second quarter of 2026 than a year earlier ([Meta, Q2 2026 results](https://s21.q4cdn.com/399680738/files/doc_financials/2026/q2/META-Q2-2026-Earnings-Call-Transcript.pdf)).

Social media is still where a lot of people find a business for the first time. The places you own are your website and your Google profile, which is why social media always runs alongside them in our [Marketing partnership](https://wonderworksdesign.net/services). There's more on the shift in [is social media dead?](https://wonderworksdesign.net/worth-knowing/social-media-is-dead-interest-media-local-business-2026)

## Does Meta Verified Give You More Reach?

The badge comes with no such promise. In the 15 September 2026 announcement the Essential plan is described through the badge, impersonation protection and management tools, with no promise that your posts will reach more people. The dearer Advanced plan includes the opportunity to be featured in the Facebook feed, and Meta promises no result there either.

Reach depends on how the first people who see a post react, and how many of them share it. A paid badge can help people trust you once they find you. Who finds you is still decided by the post.

## When Is Meta Verified Worth It for a Small Business?

When your problem is one the subscription actually solves.

- Someone is pretending to be you: a fake Page messaging your customers in your name is a real risk, and protection from it is the strongest reason to pay.
- You sell through WhatsApp: a verified business channel and round-the-clock automatic replies make sense when messages are your main route to a sale.
- The account is your till: if a suspended account means no orders, support from Meta is insurance, but in Meta One it starts with the Advanced plan, at one case a month.
- Links on Facebook matter to you: if your Page lands under the limit, Advanced gives you 8 link posts a month. The free option is to put the link in the first comment, because links in comments don't count.

If the problem is that social media isn't bringing customers, the badge won't fix it, because it doesn't change who sees your posts. Start with whether the people who discover you there have somewhere to go next: a website that answers their questions and a [Google profile](https://wonderworksdesign.net/worth-knowing/how-to-claim-google-business-profile) that's filled in.
